Set on Calle Fuente — the Street of the Fountain — in the historic, pedestrianised village of Ízbor, this characterful home captures everything that makes rural Andalusia so deeply appealing: thick whitewashed walls, terracotta tile roofs, dappled light through shuttered windows, and the sounds of running water from the village's ancient irrigation channels.
The property sits within a village declared a Historic Site in 1982, its medieval street plan and Moorish-influenced architecture virtually unchanged for centuries. Ízbor's entirely pedestrianised streets — narrow, steep, and full of nooks — make the village feel like a living museum, yet with the full comforts of modern living.
From the house, sweeping views take in olive groves, almond orchards, and the dramatic Ízbor River valley, with the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada visible on the northern horizon in winter and spring.

Ízbor sits in one of Spain's most enviable positions — far enough from the coast for peace and beauty, yet close enough to enjoy the Mediterranean, world-class skiing, and the magnificent city of Granada, all within an hour's drive.
Europe's most southerly ski resort, with slopes open from November to April. At 3,479 m, Mulhacén — the roof of mainland Spain — is visible from the valley. Ski in the morning, have lunch by the Mediterranean in the afternoon.
The main coastal town of Granada's Costa Tropical, blessed with 320 days of annual sunshine and a mean temperature of 20°C. Playa Granada offers excellent beaches, seafood, and a lively promenade. A ferry port with connections to Morocco adds an adventurous dimension.
One of the most beautiful villages on the Costa Tropical — a whitewashed town perched dramatically on a rock above the sea, crowned by a Moorish castle. Within an hour of the Sierra Nevada, it's the ultimate symbol of this region's extraordinary geography: sun, sea, and snow.
Home to the Alhambra — Spain's most visited monument — and one of Europe's most atmospheric cities. Tapas culture, flamenco, universities, and that unique blend of Moorish and Renaissance grandeur are all easily reached via the A-44 motorway.
Ízbor sits within the Valle de Lecrín, a lush agricultural valley famous for its orange groves, olive trees, almonds, and peaches. Known locally as the "Valley of Happiness," it offers superb walking, cycling, and a pace of life that city dwellers dream about.
From Granada, join the A-44 southbound and take exit 167 towards N-323a in the direction of Acebuches/Ízbor. A regular bus service also runs between El Pinar and Granada. Málaga International Airport is around 1.5 hours away.
Known historically as Yzbur and Ysbor, Ízbor is a village of unmistakably Moorish character — its complex of narrow, steep streets with interior courtyards reflects centuries of Andalusian history. Declared a Historic Site in 1982, the village's popular architecture has adapted beautifully to the slope of the land, with distinctive Arabic terracotta tile roofs setting it apart from the flat-roofed villages of the nearby Alpujarras.
The village sits on the right bank of the Río Ízbor, and the remarkable sequence of five bridges spanning the river tells its story across the ages — from ancient Roman foundations, to an elegant 18th-century stone arch, an iron bridge from 1910, a modern road bridge, and the dramatic A-44 viaduct soaring 75 metres above the valley floor.
Agriculture has always been the heart of village life here. The surrounding terraced landscape (paratas) produces world-class olives, almonds, citrus fruits, and peaches, irrigated by ancient channels that still flow today. The village celebrates its patron saints San José and the Virgin Mary with festivals each December.
